Texture by KC is the creation of Kylie Crinnian, owner of the award-winning curly salon, Moxie by KC. With over a decade behind the chair, a decade in front of classes, and seven years as an entrepreneur, Kylie decided it was time to really start helping stylists and salon owners. We teach stylists and salon owners how to understand, respect, and properly care for their curly clients (and grow their business in the process). Students learn about the science of textured hair, how to conduct a client-focused consultation, marketing to curly clients, and how to perform Kylie's signature curly cut from start to finish. Single day "look and learn" classes let you see, up close and personal, every detail of the service; two-day "hands-on" classes let you perform the service on a live model under the guidance of Kylie and her team.

Ask ten curly girls about their life experience living with curly hair and more than half will tell you about their hair trauma. Client reviews, in-chair consultations, and social media feedback tells the same tale: people with textured hair have grown up being ashamed of their hair and traumatized by stylists who don't know how to help.
We're here to end that, once and for all, and teach you how to be an advocate for your clients' natural texture.

Tickets to our upcoming one-day look and learn class in Colorado Springs are now available! Texture by KC is currently booking salons to host curly hair/textured hair classes in 2024! Students will learn the science of curly hair; the importance of empathy and leading with kindness; how to perform a client-focused consultation; how to perform KC's signature curly cut; product selection; how to photograph and market; and how to charge (spoiler: more than for straight hair!)
Students will get up close and personal as Kylie and her assistant(s) put into action everything they've talked about on TWO live models (typically one big round shape and one heart-shaped with bangs). Kylie teaches and answers questions while she works, pointing out the fine details in every aspect of the service. Finish it off with a photography session and a debrief with the models and students, and you can finally call it a day!
Students of the two-day class get the look and learn, plus a second FULL day working on their own live models! Kylie and her assistant(s) continuously work with the students and oversee their work, answering questions, helping with technique, and using the models to explain how to handle various problems you may encounter.
This gives the class an opportunity to see how to handle the many challenges curly hair can throw your way. Each student gets to perform a full, start-to-finish service on their model with the support and supervision of Kylie and her team, making this a great way to try a difficult - but rewarding - service without fear of failing.
Finally, time permitting, you'll get to practice your photography skills on your models, showcasing your new curly hair service offering. Kylie and her team will help teach you how to get beautiful, social media-ready photos that will stand out!
